Description: This cat gets its name from the man who discovered it, 19th century French naturalist Geoffroy St. Hilaire. A small cat, it lives in woodlands, rocky terrain and open bush areas of the Bolivian Andes, northwest Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Brazil. Covered with many distinct spots, Geoffroy's Cat has white patches on its ears, which it uses to signal other cats. Living by itself, the Geoffroy's Cat usually stays within the same small area, less than a square mile (two square kilometres) in size.
